Abstract

One of the social media that is currently being used is Instagram. Instagram is also used by the government to convey information in the form of images and videos. The goal is to be able to directly with the wider community through cyberspace. Jokowi as the President of Indonesia in carrying out his duties also uses an Instagram account. The paper entitled "Peran Media Sosial Instagram @Jokowi Dalam Komunikasi Presiden Joko Widodo Saat Peresmian Jalan Tol" aims to analyze the role of Instagram in President Jokowi's political communications. This study used a qualitative descriptive method by conducting interviews netizens who comment on Jokowi's Instagram. The results of this study illustrate the role of Instagram in messages conveyed by President Jokowi in his political communications. This was shown through five roles, namely conveying information, channeling aspirations, liaising with the government and the people, feedback, political socialization, social control.
