Abstract

This study is conducted to reveal the archetypal patterns of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, a TV series. Sansa is one of the main characters in the series. The researcher uses the theory of Carol S. Pearson (1998) about archetypal patterns. They are Innocent to Orphan, Wanderer, Warrior, Altruist, Innocent Returns, and Magician. The result is that Sansa only experiences some archetypal patterns. The archetypes fully experienced by Sansa are Innocent to Orphan, Warrior, and Innocent return. However, Sansa cannot be said to have experienced the Wanderer and Altruist archetypal pattern because her behavior does not originate from within herself. As for the Magician archetypal pattern, the researcher concludes that Sansa is not fully experiencing this archetype. The most crucial thing in this archetype is that a person can give his power to change the world. However, the end of the series only shows Sansa crowned as a Queen in the North and does not show how Sansa gives her powers to change her world.
