Abstract

The Covid-19 virus pandemic has forced every activity that involves many people to be transferred to virtual, including teaching and learning activities. The learning process that is usually done face-to-face should be changed to distance learning. The distance learning method relatively new for education personnel in Indonesia. They need time to adjust. The perspective of each person influences their adjustment process. Therefore, this study investigates teachers’ views on distance learning. A total of 62 English teachers in Semarang who have taught remotely were involved in this study. In this study, the writer divided the participants into two big groups, Kindergarten-Elementary teachers and High School teachers. In carrying out the research, the authors used a questionnaire consisting of open and closed questions. Each question is intended to see each respondent’s response to distance learning. Besides analyzing the data as a whole, the author also divided the participants into two big groups. The big groups are group A (Kindergarten-Elementary teachers) and group B (High School teachers). The results showed that 62 respondents showed a positive perspective on distance learning English. Each group, group A and Group B, also show positive attitudes. Positive attitudes mean they can accept the distance teaching process well, yet they still find some obstacles to overcome.
