Abstract

Work division and decision making process in a household are very interesting topics to discuss as those two activities are parts of the day to day activities of men and women, even in the household. This study focuses on the work division and decision making process that happen in the Sentani household in Papua. Data collection was conducted by interviewing a group of informants consisting of 11 women and 3 men in Sentani. The data displayed in the analysis is data obtained from information and other supporting sources. Based on the data collected the writer divided the discussion into three parts: the work division and decision making process in production activities, the work division and decision making process in reproduction activities, and the work division and decision making process in social politic activities. The writer found that although the work division and the decision making process are still influenced by traditional gender role men and women in Sentani, in the scope of a household, are largely equal in their work division and decision making process
