Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between permissive parenting, emotional intelligence and juvenile delinquency among students at a vocational high school in Jepara. The hypothesis proposed in this research were: that there was a relationship between permissive parenting and emotional intelligence with juvenile delinquency among students of Vocational high school in Jepara. The first minor hypothesis was that there was a positive relationship between permissive parenting and juvenile delinquency among students of Vocational high school in Jepara. While the minor hypothesis two was that there is a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and juvenile delinquency among students of Vocational high school in Jepara. The subjects of this research was 80 students of Al-Hikmah Vocational high School Jepara. Researcher used cluster random sampling. The research data were collected using the juvenile delinquency scale, permissive parenting scale, and emotional intelligence scale. The results of hypothesis testing using simple regression analysis showed the results of Rx1,2y = 0, 302, with F= 18,054 and p = 0,000 (p<0.01). These results indicate that there was a very significant relationship between permissive parenting and emotional intelligence with juvenile delinquency. The first minor hypothesis testing using statistical analysis showed that there was a significant positive relationship between permissive parenting and juvenile delinquency, indicated by the value rx1y = 0.507 and p = 0.006 (p<0.01). while analysis assessing minor hypothesis two showed a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and juvenile delinquency, indicated by the value rx2y = -0.433 and p = 0.002 (p<0.01).
