Abstract

The communication process is essentially the process of conveying thoughts or feelings by a (communicator) to other people (communicants). In this research, the communication process happens between the instructor as a communicator who conveys the message, and prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) as communicant who receives the message. This research takes place at Balai Latihan Kerja Luar Negri (BLKLN) Arni Family Semarang. During job training, instructors are required to deliver messages to prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) and feedback will occur. The communication that is conducted by the instructors during the training is not only focused on training materials, but also forms the development of the soft skills of prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI). This research refers to Lasswell's theory of communication elements which include sources, messages, media, message recipients, and effects. This study uses a qualitative method which is aimed at describing the communication process between instructors and prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) in Balai Latihan Kerja Luar Negri (BLKLN) Arni Family Semarang. Data analysis techniques from Mile & Huberman with three stages, namely data reduction, data exposure, drawing conclusions and verification. The results of this study are the process of ongoing communication between instructors and the prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) for feedback in the classroom. By way of responding well to the instructor by providing explanations and understanding to the prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI). The communication process that works well has an impact on the prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) in the form of changes in understanding of training materials and working skills. Henceforth, the prospective Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) get to obtain the theoretical and practical debriefing to take the competency test (ujikom).
