Abstract

This study analyzes factors affecting post-promotion managerial performance. This study is important because: First, the majority of previous studies on post-promotion performance were based on mathematical modeling or single firm case studies using secondary data. The findings of such studies do not provide sufficient information to make informed decisions across organisations. Hence, more studies are needed to provide new, rare evidence in order to enhance the understanding of post-promotion performance. Second, this study generalizes Wickramasinghe and Samaratunga (2016) objects other than Sri Lanka software development services companies, by using Semarang insurance service companies. Moreover, related to the dependent variable (post-promotion managerial performance) which is insurance service companies tend to get a lot of promotions. Data analysis technique is multiple linear regression. The results are well-designed performance management practices, job descriptions and well-designed promotion practices have a positive effect to post-promotion managerial performance. Keywords: performance management practices, job descriptions, promotion practices, post-promotion managerial performance
