Abstract

The aims of the research entitled Legal Protection for Nurses in Providing Health Services toward Inaccurate News by Printed and Online Media are to know and analyze the implementation of legal protection for nurses in providing health care services toward inaccurate news by print and online media; and to know and analyze the factors which hinder and support the implementation of legal protection for nurses in providing health care services toward inaccurate news by print and online media. The research method used is qualitative approach specifically the descriptive analytic research. The data were collected through in-depth interview and literature review. The interviews were conducted with those who have authority to give information about legal protection for nurses in providing health services toward inaccurate news by printed and online media. Meanwhile, the literature review was conducted for the sake of collecting the sources in term of primary, secondary, and tertiary law. The data, were analyzed qualitatively. The results revealed that no case has been found yet in Kepulauan Aru dealing with inaccurate news reported either through printed media or online media about the patients’ dissatisfaction of the health care service provided by health professionals, especially by nurses. However, legal protection or specific rules stated by both hospitals and the local government to protect nurses against inaccurate news by printed and online media has not been found as well. Yet, any regulation by the local government of Kepulauan Aru as well as legal institutions or professional organization in hospitals have not been established to protect nurses or health professionals in general, including protecting them against inaccurate news by printed and online media. A factor which is considered hindering the establishment is a lack of knowledge of nurses and health professionals themselves about of needs. Keywords: legal protection, nurses, health care service, inaccurate news by printed and online media.
