Abstract

This research looks at the psychological phenomenon called infatuation in John Green‘s Paper Town‟s main character, Quentin Jacobsen, in John Green‘s Paper Towns. Quentin is infatuated with another character in the novel, Margo Roth Spiegleman. This research mostly focuses on discussing the infatuation features displayed by Quentin and how he overcomes them. The goal of this research is to introduce infatuation to readers for infatuation is something almost everybody experiences, yet unfamiliar for them. With the research findings, readers might learn how and why people get infatuated and how people deal with it. The result of this research shows that infatuated individuals might display infatuation features. Some features are displayed by Quentin, but some are not. However, infatuated individuals should know how to overcome their obsession. In this study, Quentin is able to overcome his infatuation towards Margo Roth Spiegleman. Quentin overcomes his infatuation by following the strategies such as overcoming self-conflict, making changes, and letting Margo go.
