Abstract

Performing arts, including theater, dance, and music, require effective management for successful execution, including virtual performances like virtual orchestral concerts. This research investigates the challenges and practical steps involved in managing the production of virtual orchestral concerts. Using the Soegijapranata Orchestra's 2021 "Finding The Light" concert as a case study, this research aims better to understand the production management requirements for virtual performances. The production process is divided into three stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. Achsan Permas's theory will be applied to examine the need for virtual concert performing arts. However, SOC 2021 did not strictly adhere to this theory, their production process is carried out naturally. Although the number of members in SOC 2021 is less efficient, the production stages/processes were carried out effectively. Employing a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews and participant observation, this research aims to contribute to the knowledge base and provide valuable insights for laypeople who are unfamiliar with the behind-the-scenes preparations of an art performance, for beginners in the field of art production management, and for consideration in future virtual performances.
