Abstract

This is a needs analysis study that is done qualitatively. It aims to know the principal's, the religion teacher's, and the English teacher's perception and expectation of the use of biblical English learning. This is a qualitative study as it involves collecting and analyzing non-numerical data to understand concepts, opinions, or experiences. In this study, the data were gained by interviewing three informants: the principal, the religion teacher, and the English teacher. The interview guide was made based on the needs analysis questions suggested by Songhari (2008). Based on the observation and interview with three informants, it is found with three informants have similar perception and expectation of biblical English learning for the second graders. All of them perceive that the students need to learn biblical English as it is in the line with the school's mission and vision: the realization of schools as organizers of education programs that create generations with divine, intelligent, and healthy character. The mission is to create a generation that is obedient to Christian teachings and develop the potential talents and interests of students to the fullest through science and technology and foreign languages. Based on what they perceive on what the learners want or the parents expect from the school. They believe that parents sent their children to W ujud Kasih primary school because they want the children to get a good foundation of Christianity, while the learners' English capability is still low as they just master some simple vocabulary and simple sentences about daily activities. They expect that the English language will be used daily at school. The contents of the suggested book should cover the materials in religion books added with Bible stories. They expect that the students will use English not only during the class in the classroom but also outside of the classroom during the break or when they communicate with their friends and teachers.
