Abstract

This study examines Lusi, the main character in Mangunwijaya's Lusi Lindri novel. She possesses both feminine and masculine traits in a female body. This study shows how Lusi Lindri's female masculinity is described in the book. The words and sentences that indicate the character of Lusi Lindri were used in this research as the data. The qualitative approach and the female masculinity theory were used in this study. The information was collected by reading the novel and relevant books, journals, and articles. The study concludes that Lusi Lindri exhibits both masculine—strong and robust, assertive, brave, athletic, determined, engaging in intellectual activity, and giving advice–and feminine traits–physically attractive (feminine) and shows emotion. In short, despite having a female form, Lusi exhibits more masculine traits. Furthermore, the writer expects the readers to understand female masculinity.
