Abstract

The material of this study is Maleficent. It is a film about true love. It is a modification of Sleeping Beauty fairy tale but there are some changes in the characters that make the writer get interested to learn. This study aims to see Maleficent’s character and also the development of her character. After aanalyzingit using Murphy’s theory (1972), it can be concluded that Maleficent has some characters. They are friendly, powerful, forgiving, helpful, ruthless, loving, and vengeful. This leads to the second analysis of the change in Maleficent’s character. Her character has developed from a good character–a friendly, powerful, forgiving, and helpful character to a character who is full of anger and hatred toward Stefan.
