Abstract

Mahou Shoujo Site or Magical Girl Site is a Japanese manga or comic by Kentaro Sato which tells the story of a middle school girl named Aya Asagiri who has a pathetic life. Because of her miserable life, she was chosen as Mahou Shoujo or a magical girl by a mysterious figure to change her life. The main focus of this study is the main character, Aya Asagiri, as a dynamic character who undergoes interesting character developments as the story progresses. The writer decided to analyze two things, namely what kind of character development the main character experiences and what factors influence the character development of the main character. The writer used qualitative methods to complete the analysis. The results of the analysis show that the main character in the manga or Japanese comic series initially has a weak, whiny, naive and very kind character and then her character changes as the chapter progresses. Her character changes drastically to be selfish, cold, brave, and heroic. The conclusion drawn by the writer is that the main character actually undergoes an interesting character change because of the internal and external factors like the character’s own distrust of her own power and the villain’s threatening acts toward the main character’s loved one and other people in the world.
