Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country and going to the era of globalization. In this development, Indonesia needs qualified human resources. One of the factors that affect the quality of human resources is from the health aspect. Healthy lifestyle is the one option that is with consume nutritious foods. One of the important nutrients to be consumed is animal protein such as chicken eggs. Instead of this, many negative issues are circulating among consumers and society. Starting from the issue of high cholesterol levels, hormone residues and antibiotic content in eggs. For make consumer trust about that product then package chicken eggs with many information was made by eggs company. Information uderstanding from food labels is influenced by knowledge from consumers. The aim of this research are to know and analyze consumer knowledge, attitudes and practices related to food label on packaged chicken eggs. The research method was using survey method and questionnaire distribution in Salatiga city, Central Java. The sampling maethod which used in this research is purposive sampling with some ctriteria they are salatiga inhabitant and have the range age about 26-50 years old. The sample size is determined by considering the degree of trust (α) 95% with the theory of Lwanga and Lemeshow. The results show they are about 130 repondents male and female. Statistical analysis in this research is using univariate descriptive analysis and chi square test. The result of knowledge analysis showed that the respondent had good knowledge about chicken egg (49,2%) and food label (60%). Respondents also had a positive attitude (51.5%) and practices (60.8%) related to food labeling on chicken eggs in packs. The results also showed there was a correlation between knowledge of chicken eggs with attitude and practices related to food label on chicken eggs in packaging with significance value 0,04 (P <0,05) and 0,01 (P<0,05). The next result is there is no correlation between food label knowledge and respondent practices with significance value 0,80 (P >0,05) and there is no correlation between food label and respondent attitude with significance value 0,1 (P> 0,05). Another result is there was correlation between attitudes and practices of respondents related to food labels on chicken eggs in packaging with a significance value of 0.012 (P <0.05).
