Abstract

Abstract T4iailand, for recent decades is famous fol' its beautiful places. It is a paradise for the westerner& The beach, t&e local people, th�culture- and The traditional arts are the - interesting things to see in Thailand; Among the cities in Thailand, Bangkok is the most rarnousone. Many tourists and backpackers Irorrr-att over the world come to Bangkok. -�he backpackers come.to enjoy the beautiful beach in Bangkok.reven some of them try to find the most perfect beach around there. Based on the story by Alex Garland, The Beach, the passion of the backpackers to find the most perfect beach will lead them to a secret and isolated island in Thailand which is called "the beach". The purpose of this study is o ooserve the intrinsic elements of the novel, The I/each which �re the theme, the characters.The selling. the poin of- v icw and the plot or the storyr The writer will basically analyze those points using the tli ory in the book "Structure, Sound and Sense" by Laurene Perrine. The analysis shows that Alex Garland's, The Beach has a theme of human nature. People are searching for a paradise in Thailand,' even-some of them are too narve to believe that such a place really exists. The story rei._eals that human being are too ambitious to find the very perfect place in this woTld yet some-of them will sacrifice their relationship with other just to keep tlie secrecy OLthat place. ItJswhat happens in Alex Garland's, The Beach.
