Abstract

Penelitian ini terfokus untuk menguji apakah signaling theory dapat menjelaskan fenomena stock split. Untuk itu penelitian ini berjudul “Daya Prediksi PBV dan PER Terhadap Kebijakan Stock Split”. Populasi penelitian ini adalah semua perusahaan yang telah go public dan terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Sampel penelitian ini diambil secara purposive sampling yaitu perusahaan yang go public pada periode Januari 2001 hingga 31 Desember 2001 sampai dengan Januari hingga 31 Desember 2006. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah multiple discriminant analysis (MDA). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ΔPER dan ΔPBV satu tahun sebelum stock split tepat memprediksi tindakan pemecahan saham, sedangkan ΔPER dan ΔPBV dua dan, tiga tahun
