Abstract

Compression means minimize the size of file without changes the original file after it is decompressed. The text compression is really useful when there is a large file with so many repetition of the characters. There are some factors influencing the process of choosing the right compression methods, such as a speed of compression, the size of compression file, algorithm complexity. This project will develop a compression tools using LZW algorithm. In this algorithm file that will be compress will entered into reference table/dictionary. In which the text characters are replaced with an index found in a ”dictionary”.The dictionary saved used Linked List.
