Abstract
Godless by Pete Hautman is one of the literary works that has been able to capture the existence of the alternative religions. This novel tells about Jason Bock and his friends who create a new religion. This study is conducted to find out the concept of deity and the rituals used in The Chutengodians. This study uses historical approach as the main framework to analyze the Chutengodians’ concept of deity and its rituals. Mariasusai Dhavamony’s theory of phenomenology of alternative religion was used in this study to find out which type of religion followed by The Chutengodians.
