Abstract

Water is an element that is needed by humans, because more than 60 percent of the human body parts are water. Water will be able to provide good benefits for life if the quality of water meets health requirements. In Indonesia,abundant water resources are generally available. However, water quality does not fully meet the requirements to support a healthy lifestyle. Areas with domination of limestone hills generally have high levels of lime dissolved in water. So that the type of water produced cannot be categorized as healthy water. Penadaran village, Gubung sub-district, Grobogan has such characteristics, so there needs to be special efforts to improve water quality. The use of refill water, with quality that is still questionable is a part of people's daily lives. Unika Soegijapranata by Eko Settlement Study Team, trying to provide a solution to reduce dependence on refill water by treating existing water. In the preliminary experiment, a fourstage filter system was designed to be a prototype of an effective and inexpensive water filtration system. Initial experiments have been carried out, to be a model for a larger scale screening system.
