Abstract

The study aims to explore the migrants from Tegal who live in Semarang and still use Tegal‟s Dialect. In this research, the criteria of the respondents are those who are from Tegal are living in Semarang and have been staying in Semarang for more than 3 years and they keep or still use their dialect to covers with other people in Semarang. How do Tegal people maintain their Tegal Dialect and What is Tegal people's perception of Tegal Dialect. The finding of this study suggests that Tegal people live in Semarang can maintain their dialect, The findings from this study indicate that the respondents have a positive attitude towards their efforts in maintaining their dialect. They agreed that Tegal's Dialect is a unique and beautiful dialect and needs to be maintained. The result shows migrants from Tegal use the Tegal dialect until now and they keep using their dialect to other people in Semarang. Keyword: Dialect, Tegal, Semarang, People, Analysis
