Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the style of permissive parenting and the use of gadgets from an early age with aggressive behavior in elementary school age children.This research uses quantitative method with correlation technique. Data were collected by using three types of scale, namely permissive parenting style, the aggressive behavior in the children, and the use of the gadget. The scale to measure the use of gadget is an adaptation of Haug, et al (2015). The subjects of this study are students of sixth grade elementary school which amounted to 84 people from Elementary School Muhammadiyah Central Klaten and 37 people from 1st Public Elementary School North Klaten, total subjects of the study amounted to 121 people. This study uses population studies. Research data were analyzed using Product Moment correlation technique with SPSS 22.0. The results showed that there were a significant correlation between the permissive parenting style and the aggressive behavior in children (p < 0.01, rx1y= 0.358) and between the use of the gadget with aggressive behavior in children (p < 0.01, rx2y= 0.245).
