Abstract
The purposes of this research are to find out the factors that cause the reduction of the occupancy rate of retreat house “X” and to find out the proper strategies to solve this problem by using balanced scorecard approach. The method applied in this research is scorecard approach. The methods used for collecting data are observation, interview and documentation. The findings of the research show that the cause of the reduction in occupancy rate are competition, weather, promotion, services, facilities and human resources. Based on the financial factor, a well-planned financial report should be made. To attract more new costumers, the retreat house should make a move to do intense promotions, as well as to maintain the old customers. To survive in competing with other retreat houses, the retreat house needs to add more complete facilities and needs to make a breakthrough. Finally, training or seminars should be held in order to improve the knowledge and the skills of every human resources in the retreat house. So that it will give new perspectives for the employees to work and serve. Keywords: balanced scorecard, retreat house.
