Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out whether musical mnemonic as structural prompts could give positive influence for retention in children with Attention Deficit Hiperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Hypothesis of this study was there is a positive influence of using musical mnemonic as structural prompts for retention in children with ADHD. A quasi experiment with interrupted time-series design was used in this study. Participant of this study was three of 9- 11 years old boy attending local elementary school which have low score at memories subtest (WISC scale). Participant completed six sessions of musical mnemonic method and have been tested in posttest . Analysis was being carried out with Statistical Package for Social Science version 11.5 (SPSS 11.5) using Wilcoxon test to see the difference between pretest and posttest. The result showed that Z = --3,153 with p < 0,01. This finding showed that there is significant difference on retention in children with Attention Deficit Hiperactivity Disorder (ADHD) which received musical mnemonic method as structural prompt.
