Abstract

This thesis concerns with the life experiences of slaves in United States in 1858 in the movie Django Unchained. The purpose of the study is to explain that status social is not used only in the environment, but also in society in a group, family and organization. The writer uses socio-historical approach to find how the slave gets the status and privilege in a group of slaves. By socio-historical approach, the writer obtains that the slaves get two statuses, ascribed status and achieved status. The slaves themselves can be categorized into three different class: low, middle, and high. Those statuses gives them function, roles, different privilege, right, and obligation in the society.
