Abstract
Nowdays, we often see people use swear words in the informal conversation. Sometimes, they do not just use it to attack or to express their emotions which can cause a trouble. Now, the use of swear words is different. Because they use the swear words as their habit. As a student of Soegijapranata Catholic University, the writer wants to do the research about the phenomena of using the swear words happening between the male students of Soegijapranata Catholic University especially the one which commonly happened in a boarding house. The participants of the research with five male students of Soegijapranata Catholic University coming from different faculties living in one boarding house. The writer recorded their conversations, transcribes them and interviewed to them to know the reasons of using swear words.
