Abstract
In its implementation, a construction project is always exposed to various risks. The inability to manage risks in a project can lead to multiple problems, one of which is cost overrun. Cost overrun refers to a situation where the actual cost of a project exceeds the initial estimated cost. The occurrence of cost overrun is caused by various types of risks and uncertainties in the project. Therefore, proper risk management efforts are necessary to control project costs and reduce the likelihood of cost overruns. Risk management includes risk identification, risk classification, risk analysis, and risk response. This study aims to identify risk factors and mitigation efforts for the risks causing cost overruns in construction projects, specifically in project X in West Java. The analytical method used in this study is the probability and impact matrix. The results identify 39 risk factors contributing to cost overruns in construction projects in West Java, with three dominant risk factors: low labor productivity, contracts awarded to the lowest bidder, and additional work.
