Abstract

Antioxidant is compound capable to inhibit the oxidation by reacting with a free radical reaktive so that form the more stable free radical and become less reaktive. Dandang Gendis leaves (Clinacanthus nutans) having chemical content for example flavonoid and polifenol that make antioxidant activity. This research was aimed to identify the ntioxidant activity of extract and fraction of Dandang Gendis leaves by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method that was indicated by determination of EC50 values. Dandang gendis leaves were macerated using ethanol 96% followed by artition using ethyl acetate and water. The antioxidant potencies of extract, ethyl acetate and water fraction were also measured by DPPH method and the result showed that extract, ethyl acetate and water fraction of Dandang Gendis leaves revealed the antioxidant activity with IC 50 of 1831.45; 1895.48 dan 532.24 µg/mL.
