Abstract

This research attempts to explore the relationship between work-life balance, years of experience and burnout, whether work-life balance and years of experience might predict burnout. The first hypothesis proposed in this study is there’s a relationship between work-life balance, years of experience, and burnout among women lecturers. Second hypothesis proposed in this study is there’s negative relationship between work-life balance and burnout. Third hypothesis in this study is there’s negative reationship between years of experience and burnout. In this study there are 110 women lecturers as participants found by using incidental sampling. Research data have been collected via survey which is conducted with Likert scale consist of 17 items of burnout, 22 items of work-life balance, and demographic data from years of experience. Multiple regression analysis is applied to obtain work-life balance and years of experience as predictors of burnout with R=0,395 and p=0,000 (p<0,01) indicate that work-life balance and years of experience predict burnout, which means that the first hypothesis is accepted. Pearson correlation analysis is applied to obtain the relationship between burnout and work-life balance with rxy = 0,349 and p=0,000 (p<0,01) indicate that there is a positive and significant correlation between work-life balance and burnout, which means that the second hypothesis in this study was rejected. While Spearman’s correlation is applied to obtain the relationship between years of experience and burnout with rxy = -0,165 and p=0,043 (p<0,05) indicate that there is a negative and significant correlation between years of experience and burnout, which means that the third hypothesis in this study was accepted
