Abstract

Born as part the generation of 90’s, the time to grow up between the modernization and vintage things, the writer experienced the era where this traditional game was existing and as a part of the 90’s generation, the writer has a great intrusiveness toward the traditional games in Indonesia as an example of Folklore. The writer is interested in exploring the kinds and types of traditional games known among Faculty of language and Arts’ students of Soegijapranata Catholic University as the 90’s generation and the description of traditional games known among the student of respondents the role of traditional games for the 90’s generation. This study was conducted by using questionnaire distributed through google form to 77 respondents and also by interviewing 6 respondents. The result shows that they spent their leisure time mostly by playing, and they played the traditional games mostly with their neighbors and their classmates at home, neighborhood and school. Almost all the respondents know all the games mentioned in the questionnaire. Enggrang is the game that is known by the least number of participants although it shows that more than half knows this game. Hide and seek is the most popular game that they played, while Enggrang was the least popular game.
