Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the narratives of Sobokartti, and other information that has not been found yet about the past and present of Sobokartti. For this research the writer used qualitative method for collecting data.. The writer obtained the data by interviewing former chair person of Sobokartti, Mr. Rahardjo and the current secretary of Sobokartti association, Mr. Sutrisno. The results show that much information about Sobokartti has not been known by public. The important information found on Sobokartti’s past and present is about fundraising event called “Fancy Fair” in 1929 to help funding the building of Sobokartti, and the changes happen to Sobokartti in terms of its ground level, surrounding, pendhapa, doors, audience seat, and stage direction. All those changes happened from 1931 until 2017.
