Abstract
Suicide is an action to kill or stop the own life because of any reasons and it can be done in any way. Veronika Decides to Die which written by Paulo Coelho is a novel about understanding the life meaning in a monotony society and beaten by social pressure. Through Veronika, the main character, a woman tries to suicide as an effect of her social pressure from her environment. This study aims at finding Veronika’s reasons to commit suicide and Veronika’s opinion about her life. The writer uses psychological and philosophical approach. Psychological approach is used to know how the main character runs her life and learns how the main character faces her problems.
