Abstract

The purposes of this study are to identify the informal words and the word formation processes that the characters used. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected from The Sleepover (2021) movie script and analyzed using the Yule theory. From the data, the researcher found seventy-one data to be analyzed. Out of these seventy-one words, the researcher found nineteen data informal words and fifty-two repetition data. With regard to word formation, there are four types of word formation processes used in this movie with the most frequently used being Clipping words.
