Abstract

The development of alternative dispute resolution in Indonesia started with the enacment of Act No. 30 of 1999 on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (the Arbitration Act). Before the enacment of the Act, dispute resolution was commonly done only in court through the litigation process. The purpose of this chapter is to describe how ADR has developed in Indonesia since the enactment of the Arbitration Act.
