Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship between perceptions of the characteristics toward school counselors and self-concealment and students' interest in counseling. The hypotheses of this study are (1) there is a relationship between perceptions toward school counselors characteristics and students' interest in counseling, (2) there is a relationship between self-concealment and students' interest in counseling. The approach of this study is a quantitative approach, in which the research variables are measured by scale as a research instrument. The population is Christian High School students of YSKI Semarang with a sample of 200 people, determined by the Stratifield Random Sampling technique. The data used are primary data in the form of the results of respondents' answers to the questionnaire statement items measured by a Likert scale. The results of the study showed that: (1) Perceptions of the characteristics of school counselors has a positive correlation with students' interest in counseling with rᵪᵧ = 0.314, p = 0.000 (< 0.01); (2) Self-concealment has a negative correlation with students' interest in counseling with rᵪᵧ= -0.459, p = 0.000 (< 0.01). Thus it can be concluded that the hypotheses in this study were accepted. Keywords : Counselor characteristics , Self-concealment, Counseling Interest, Student High School
