Abstract
Reading literature will make people understand about all of human characteristics such as love, hatred, emotion, and ambition. Therefore, the novel The Sheriff’s Pregnant Wife written by Patricia Thayer tells about the anxiety of pregnant woman who does not really know about the father of the infant. In the thesis the writer would like to discuss the situational ironies and the relation between the situational ironies and the character’s development of Paige Keenan and Reed Larkin. Moreover, the focus of the problem in the thesis is theme, characters, settings, points of view, and irony. This research also uses formalistic approach to analyze the ironical situation happens in Paige and Reed’s life.
