Abstract
Studying at academy of pharmacy can be a choice for people who want to go working at the marketplace after graduating, especially in the medicinal field. The aims of this study are to know whether the English for pharmacy are taught to students at Theresiana Academy of Pharmacy or not and to find out the students’ attitudes in learning that kind of English by using quantitative methods. The writer used 3 closed-ended questions concerning the English in Pharmacy and 71 items in questionnaire, related to the attitudes of students which are adapted from Gardner’s Attitude Test Battery (2004). He spread the questionnaires to 62 active students of Theresiana Academy of Pharmacy from 2011 academic year. He also used a program named SPSS 13 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) to find the mean of the students’ attitudes based on statements in the questionnaires. The results show that: (1) the English taught at Theresiana Academy of Pharmacy is ESP because 68.82% students agreed towards the 3 questions concerning the English in Pharmacy. (2) the students’ attitudes in learning English are positive as the analysis of the result of the entire mean in the questionnaires is 3.59 shows that the students have positive attitudes.
