Abstract
Nowadays, parents are becoming more aware of the importance of English language learning for their kids, moreover their teenagers. It becomes one of the reasons why they send their children to English courses such as CLT (Center for Language Training) to improve their English. Based on such phenomenon, the writer conducted a study on teaching techniques used by CLT teachers in teaching teenage’s students. The writer’s questions are, firstly, what are the techniques used by CLT teachers in teaching teenage’s students? Secondly, which techniques are dominantly used by the CLT teachers? The study was conducted with the help of the teachers of CLT as research participants. The instrument used to obtain the data is questionnaires. The analysis is done based on descriptive analysis. The result of the analysis shows that most teachers used controlled techniques although semi controlled and free techniques are also used. Most teachers use controlled technique because this technique is easier to apply in class, especially for intermediate level. In intermediate level, students usually need more guidance from the teacher.
