Abstract
The Blacker The Berry is story about a mulatto woman, Emma Lou, who always gets unsympathetic treatments from both the society around her and even her family. She comes from mixture families. Her father has black/dark skin while her mother white/fair skin. All of her big family members hope that they are going to have a sister/daughter/grandchild that has fair skin. But Emma has dark/black skin like her father. As a result, her mother’s relatives and family do not accept and consider her as a curse.
