Abstract
The Count of Monte Cristo is an adventure story that takes place during the historical events of 1815 to 1838. This piece tells the tale of a man who seeks revenge after his escape from prision To analyze the character of Edmond Dantes as the hero and the adventure life of Edmond Dantes in accomplishing his mission and to prove him the hero of the story, the writer will use Cawelt's adventure literary formula as the theory. By using the adventure literary formula, the writer divides the story based on the setting, character, and the actions of hero. This analysis shows the places and time when Edmond Dantes arrived in Marseilles until he success to take revenge. It also shows the character of Edmond Dantes in the story and how he changes his name to the count of monte cristo in accomplishing the his mission. The last part in this analysis will show an interesting story when Edmond Dantes faces his life in fighting injustice until how he accomplish his mission.
