Abstract

John Grisham is one of the famous novelists in America whose novels always become sensation in the market place until he was recommended as “The Fastest Selling Novelist in the American History.” One of his novels is “The Client” which tells about the life of Mark Sway, a boy who lives with his mother and one brother. The writer discusses about the problems which are experienced by the main character in this novel. The emerge of the problems and influence toward behavior and personality of the main character become the main discussion in this research. The writer has two objectives in writing this thesis. Firstly is to explain dilemmatic situations which experienced by Mark Sway, and secondly is to describe single parent family type influences toward the character of Mark Sway. The writer suggested, by reading this novel critically, the reader will understand about psychological problems on children as the effect of the problems of their family.
