Abstract

English is a foreign language in Indonesia because it is not used in daily communication. This reality, sometimes, makes it difficult for English learners to improve their language mastery/proficiency. Due to such condition, the success of foreign language learning will greatly depend n each individual. The purpose of this study is to find out the motivation of D and S 1 student in.-teaming English. This is also to find out the j-fferences between 03 and S I students motivation in ./ learning English. The s uay will show the 7,dpnts- the imp in learning English. S I students' motivation in learning English is not only iJtrumcfltal as 03's, but it is also integrative. D3 and S I students have different motivation in learning English. They have their own motives and purposes in studying English.
