Abstract

America possesses so many superhero characters, such as Spidcrman, Batman, and Superman. Each character has the different background and story. In this research, the writer invites the readers to sec Superman, one cf the P.. rnerican heroes deeper through Elliot S. Magin's Living Legend of Superman: Last Son of Krypton. For some people especially children, Superman is familiar as a great superhero who can do what people can not do. In the novel, Superman is described as a strong hero, willing to help people and reawakens the hope for peace, moreover, Superman is popular and becomes an idol Therefore people always wait for his appearances. The writer collects the data about Superman as the main character. The writer takes a note of the favorite part of Superman in the novel. Then. the writer takes a note of the unfavorite part. compared, and going into detail in the discussion. Moreover, the wt iter fiHdS that there arc so many hidden parts of Superman's character. This research .airns to make the readers know more about Superman by deconstructing Superman as main character, because it has differences between Superman character that people know and the deconstructed one. The result of this research shows that Superman as one of the American Superhe oes has the character which is paradoxical to the American concepts of superhero.
