Abstract
200 Pounds Beauty is a film that discusses the issues of body image in Korean society. This film describes the major character named Hanna, the talented woman who has a beautiful voice. Hanna wants to be a singer but she does not have the courage to perform on the stage since she thinks that her body is ugly; she is fat. The writer is interested in researching the way Hanna perceives her body image, people’s opinion on Hanna’s body image, and the side effects experienced by Hanna after she underwent plastic surgery. The writer used a qualitative method in this study. This study finds that Hanna has a negative perception of her body image. She is not confident in herself. Besides that, people see her negatively because she is fat. It makes her become the target of bullying. As a result, Hanna undergoes plastic surgery to change her body image. Finally, she gets her body goals. However, Hanna experiences psychological pain after she has plastic surgery
