Abstract
Photovoltaic (PV) is very important to produce electric energy where the electricity is unavailable. Operating devices in this area should understand the PV characteristics. A PV powered water pumping system is an alternative way to get water for any purposes, most of them employ AC induction motor with two converters. To optimize the electric power generated by PV so that operating the PV at its maximum power point must be kept. This paper describes a Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motor-pump that is powered by PV by using single converter. The converter acts as a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) and a motor driver so the system cost can be reduced. To avoid the complexity, digital control was chosen by implementing Digital Signal Controller dsPIC. The effectiveness of the proposed system has been verified by simulation works. experimental works were done to validate.
