Abstract
In this study, the writer analyzed The Functions of Slametan in Nyadran Ritual for Javanese People in Diwak Village. The background of this study is the pluralism issues that happen in a plural country, Indonesia. This study is interesting because among the pluralism issues that happen in Indonesia, people who are living in Diwak village are still living in harmonious The purpose of this research are to know what Slametan in Nyadran ritual is, how Slametan in Nyadran ritual is carried out and what are the functions of Slametan in Nyadran ritual are. This research is in the field of literature, especially folklore studies. The respondents of this study were native Javanese Diwak villagers. This study used qualitative method, through interviews. The writer also collected data from some trusty journal, book, article, and other sources. The result of this study showed that there are a lot of Slametan conducted by Javanese people in Diwak village, one of them is Slametan in Nyadran ritual. there are 5 functions of Nyadran ritual such as to maintain the ancestor's culture, as a devotion to their ancestors, for social cohesion, for social collectives and to earn money to develop the v.illage. Javanese people in Diwak village concern in maintaining the ancestors’ cultures.
