Abstract
The culture in Indonesia is very diverse. One of them is traditional regional music. As the nation's next generation, the younger generation has less concern and less enthusiasm in cultural preservation. Cultural preservation, especially for traditional music, must begin by introducing children to traditional music in their area. With the development of technology, traditional musical instruments can now be introduced to children using smartphones. This research was held to design & create games that can provide children with knowledge about traditional musical instruments in Central Java. The design and making of the game is done by collecting data that is done by interviewing the resource persons and using the game maker application that is Construct 2. Games that are made have 4 different gameplay and when completing each stage will get 3 traditional musical instruments. Traditional musical instruments obtained are in the Collection menu, in this menu players can get information about the traditional musical instruments and the sounds they produce. After the game was finished, it was tested by spreading the questionnaire manually and getting 41 respondents. Games made from this research have a positive impact on players and provide new knowledge about traditional musical instruments. This is evident from the respondents' answers in the questionnaire. Keywords: Learning While Playing, Traditional Musical Instruments, Central Java, Android Games, Construct 2
