Abstract
This study is about Transitivity Analysis. The subjects are four priests in Chapel of the F.I.C Brother, Semarang in period of time February and March 2013. The research questions of this study are, “What are the processes used by the four priests in their homilies based on the transitivity analysis system?” And “What is the transitivity process mostly used by the four priests in their homilies?”. The result of the study shows the 1st homily from the 1st priest consists of 58 processes. The 2nd homily consists of 38 processes. Then, the 3rd homily consists of 30 processes. Those three homilies consist of five processes; they are Material, Behavioural, Mental, Verbal, and Relational process. Meanwhile the 4th homily consists of six processes with addition of existential process, with over all 109 processes. Overall, the transitivity process mostly used by the four priests in their homilies is Relational Process. The writer thought that the priests used the Relational processes in their homilies to give more explanation about the situation, the role, the information, the existent of something, the example, having of something, suggestion, etc. about the homilies that related to the Bible or the Gospel on that day, and also to simplify the words from the Bible to make the congregation easier to catch the meaning of the homily it self. Keywords : Transitivity Analysis, Priests, Homilies.
