Abstract

Global warming is a term heard requently and is currently associated with a variety of events and natllral disasters in the country {Indonesia}. Like from flooding, extrem~ weather, and a variety of diseases. The.,phenomenon of global warming is characterized by change's in Earth's climate and the increase in number of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Efforts to address this issue in Indonesia have not been done seriously. One of the reasons was the lack of understanding and knawledge about climate and its relationship with the enviranment. The porpuse of this sudy was to determine the extent of climate literacy in affecting societal attitude -in this €Use how the government employees of Pontianak City were dealing with global worming. The research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 30 government institutions, 6 distflotS, and 4 villag s offices in Pontianok City. Correlation analysis between climate literacy and societal attitudes in dealing the phenomenon of global warming hawed a significant but weak relationship. While, based an frequency distribution some of the respondent agrreed on provisions related to climate literacy, however they failed to act in terms of actual practices. This was caused by the presence of a high understanding of climate literacy that was not accompanied by its application in daily life practices.
