Abstract
Sexual violence remains a serious social issue. The number of those suffering from sexual violence is still high. Women are often targeted as objects of sexual violence. One important thing to address is the lack of information about what sexual objectification is. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to describe the forms of sexual objectification, to analyze the impacts of sexual objectifications, and to analyze how women characters deal with their sexual objectifications. The data was taken from Potions and Paper Cranes novel by Lan Fang. The writer analyzed three main women characters in Potions and Paper Cranes novel. Qualitative method was employed in this study to analyze the data. To collect qualitative data the writer used the story from Potions and Paper Cranes novel that contained sexual objectifications issue. The result from this study shows that the three woman characters experience sexual objectifications in the forms of rape, marital rape, and prostitution. These sexual objectifications cause them to go through physical and mental sufferings. There are two different attitudes when they deal with sexual objectifications. First, some of the main women characters accept their objectifications because they enjoy and get money for being the sexual object of the men characters. Second, some of the main women characters resist against the objectification because it is done by coercion. Some of them get traumatic experiences due to what happened in their dark past, the times when they became the victims of sexual objectifications.
